Use the revenue report for reporting your biannual alcohol sales to the Finnish Supervisory Agency
This guidance is intended for businesses in Finland and relates specifically to their alcohol sales reporting obligations to the Finnish Supervisory Agency.
You can now use your revenue report to see the sales value of beer and other alcohol products separately, making it easier to complete your biannual alcohol sales reporting to the Finnish Supervisory Agency.
A few changes to your POS settings are needed to set this up – follow the steps below.
How to show alcohol sales separately in your revenue report
- Create two new VAT rates in your POS system
In the customer portal, go to Store Settings > VAT and create two new VAT rates: Beer 25.5 % and Other alcohol 25.5% - Update the VAT rates for your alcohol products
From the portal menu on the left, go to POS > Products and assign the relevant new VAT rate to each alcohol product. - Update the VAT rates in your POS
Now go to your POS system, open Settings from the main menu and click Refresh under Refresh data from portal. This will sync the new VAT rates to your POS system.
- Alcohol sales will now be recorded under the new VAT rates
Please note that the new VAT rates will apply from the moment you make the changes. They will not affect past sales retroactively.
- When it's time to submit your biannual alcohol sales report, generate the revenue report in customer portal
In the customer portal, go to Reports and run the revenue report for the relevant six-month period. You'll then see the euro value of beer and other alcohol sales broken down separately by the new VAT rates.
Important to note
- The report does not calculate the volume of alcohol sold in litres
If you need to report retail sales volumes in litres, these will need to be calculated separately. - The revenue report does not replace your bookkeeping or the official biannual report
It can help you identify the euro value of your alcohol sales, but you are still responsible for completing the report to the Finnish Supervisory Agency and ensuring that the information submitted is correct. - Changes are not applied retroactively
Alcohol sales will only appear under the new VAT rates from the date the changes are made. To use the revenue report for your 2027 biannual alcohol sales reporting, make sure the required changes are in place by 1 January 2027.
