What is kitchen and bar printing?
Kitchen and bar printing allows you to connect multiple printers to your POS system using specific printing profiles. By default, there are two profiles: Kitchen and Bar. However, you can easily add more profiles through the customer portal and customize them to suit your business needs. Each printer profile can be linked to different product categories, ensuring that orders are sent to the correct location
How to setup a printer
- Log into the Portal.
- Navigate to the “Printers” section.
- Add your new printer and test the connection.
- Once the connection is successful, save the printer configuration.

How to setup printer profiles
Flatpay provides default printer profiles, “Kitchen” and “Bar.” You can create new profiles to match specific products or categories by using the advanced options in the customer portal.
How to set and change print language
You can adjust the language of each printer via the customer portal. For example, you might set your kitchen printer to print in English and your bar printer in German. Simply go to the printer settings in the Portal and select the desired language.
How to configure receipt option
If you’d like to enable “Order numbers” or automatic printing when orders are saved, simply toggle these options to ON in the customer portal.
Example of kitchen and bar printing in action:
Let’s say a restaurant has “hamburger” under the “mains” category and “Pepsi” under “soft drinks.” The restaurant uses two printers:
- Printer 1 is in the kitchen and is set to print products under the “starters,” “mains,” and “desserts” categories.
- Printer 2 is in the bar and is set to print products from the “soft drinks,” “wines,” and “beers” categories.
When a customer orders a hamburger and a Pepsi:
- The order for the hamburger will print in the kitchen, allowing the kitchen staff to begin preparing the meal.
- The order for the Pepsi will print in the bar, where the bartender can prepare the drink.
