Sometimes you need to charge for something that isn’t a fixed item in your usual offering—like a custom service, an add-on, or a tailored solution. Payment Links reduce delays, cut down on manual admin, and make the payment experience smoother for both you and your customer.
What you can do with Payment Links
- Collect payment for custom solutions and tailored services
- Avoid delays and extra admin
- Offer a fast and flexible checkout experience for customers
View and manage your Payment Links
In the Flatpay Portal, you can see all the Payment Links you’ve created—both active and past links.
You can search and filter Payment Links by:
Date
Status (paid/unpaid/active)
Type (single-use or multi-use)
Description (search field)
How to create a Payment Link
- Log in to your Flatpay Portal
Select Payment Links in the menu on the left
Here you’ll see an overview of your active, paid, and unpaid links
Click Add payment link (top right)
Fill in the details:
Enter the amount
Select currency
Add a short description (what the customer is paying for)
Choose the payment type:
Single-use (one payment only)
Multi-use (can accept multiple payments)
Choose capture method (if relevant):
Manual capture: Use this if you’re shipping a product. The customer’s funds are reserved for up to 30 days, and you capture the payment when you’re ready (e.g., when the item ships).
Automatic settlement: Use this if you’re charging for a service. The bank processes the payment automatically.
Share or send a Payment Link
Once the Payment Link is created, you can:
Copy and share the link (SMS, email, social media, etc.)
Or use the Flatpay Portal to send an email automatically to the customer
Edit a Payment Link
You can edit a Payment Link until the first successful payment is completed.
After a successful payment:
Single-use link: cannot be changed
Multi-use link: you can still edit some fields, but you cannot change:
Amount
Currency
Link type (Single-use vs Multi-use)
Activate or deactivate a Payment Link
You can deactivate a Payment Link at any time.
A deactivated Payment Link cannot be used to make a payment.
This is useful if you’re preparing the link and don’t want it used yet.
It’s also helpful if you no longer want customers to pay through it (for example, an old event link where pricing has changed).
Expiration (multi-use links)
For multi-use Payment Links, you can optionally set an expiration date.
After that date, the link will expire automatically and can no longer be used.
