Understanding features in standalone payment terminal settings

This article introduces the new features added to your standalone payment terminal settings. These enhancements are designed to improve usability, increase transaction efficiency, and ensure consistent connectivity. Below, you’ll find a detailed explanation of each feature, along with instructions on how to use and configure them.

Input direction setting

The input direction setting allows you to reverse the input direction of digits, switching from left-to-right to right-to-left. This customization is ideal for users who prefer or require a different entry orientation.

Automatic decimal point
This feature also includes an automatic decimal point insertion when entering transaction amounts, which helps reduce input errors and speeds up transactions.

How to access

  • Navigate to the “Settings” menu on your terminal.
  • Open “app settings”
  • Select “input direction.”
  • Choose your preferred input direction (Left-to-Right or Right-to-Left).

Tip

Adjust this setting to match your preferred input method for quicker and more accurate transaction entries.

Print the Receipt

This feature lets you define a timer that determines how long the terminal waits before returning to the sales menu after printing a receipt. The timer can be set between 2 and 5 seconds.

How to use

  • Access the “Settings” menu on your terminal.
  • Open “app settings”.
  • Disable “Always ask for receipt”.
  • Set the timer according to your preference (2-5 seconds).

Tip

This setting helps maintain a smooth transaction flow by automatically returning to the sales screen after a short delay.

Access to cellular settings from the login screen

The main login screen now includes direct access to cellular settings. This allows you to check and manage your terminal’s connectivity before logging in, ensuring that the terminal is online and ready for transactions.

Purpose

This feature provides a quick way to verify and adjust network settings, minimizing potential downtime.

How to use

  • From the login screen, select “Cellular Settings.”
  • Review and adjust your terminal’s network settings.
  • Confirm that the terminal is online before logging in.

Tip:

Use this feature to quickly troubleshoot connectivity issues without needing to log in first.

Automatic APN Setup and app updates

The Payment app on your standalone terminal now automatically configures the correct APN (Access Point Name) settings upon launch, ensuring that your terminal remains connected. In addition, Flatpay will ensure that your app is periodically updated, provided certain conditions are met.

Update Requirements

Connection: The terminal must be connected to the internet via SIM card or Wi-Fi.

  • Battery Level:
The terminal must have more than 50% battery remaining.

  • Inactivity:
The terminal must be inactive (i.e., not in use) during the update.

  • Checking app version:
If you are unsure of the current app version, you can find it at the bottom of the “App Settings” menu.

How to Use

  • Ensure your terminal is connected to a network and has sufficient battery life.
  • If necessary, allow the terminal to sit inactive to enable automatic updates.
  • To check the app version, navigate to the “App Settings” menu and look at the bottom of the screen.

Important

Keeping your app updated ensures that you benefit from the latest features and security improvements. Regularly check your app version to ensure it is up to date.

These features in your standalone payment terminal settings are designed to give you greater control, improve transaction speed, and ensure reliable connectivity.
