POS: How to open your day

This guide provides instructions on how to properly login and set up your cash drawer at the start of your workday using the Flatpay POS system. It’s important that each staff member uses their unique User-ID and PIN to ensure all actions are correctly tracked throughout the day. Here is how you grant your staff access to the POS system.

The guide also covers how to verify that your terminal and printer are connected before starting your business activities.

Prerequisites

  • Each staff member must have their unique User-ID and PIN, which are created and managed through the Flatpays portal.
  • Ensure the POS system is powered on and connected to the internet.

Step-by-step Instructions

Log in to the POS system

  • Access the login screen:
Power on the POS system. The login screen will appear automatically.

  • Enter your User-ID:
Enter your unique 4 digit user-ID.

  • Enter your PIN:
After entering the user-ID, input your PIN. This combination is necessary for tracking all actions under your account.

  • Click “Login”:
Once both credentials are entered, click the “Login” button to access the POS system.

Important: Each staff member must use their own user-ID and PIN to log in. This ensures that all activities, such as sales, discounts, refunds, and cash drawer operations, are correctly tracked to the individual.

Start your day by setting up the cash drawer

  • Count the cash:
Begin by counting the cash in your cash drawer at the start of your shift.

  • Press the “Set Cash” button:
On the POS app, press the “Set Cash” button to begin setting up your cash drawer.

  • Enter the cash amount:
Manually enter the amount of cash you counted into the system.

  • Press “Start the Day”:
After entering the correct amount, press “Start the Day” to complete the setup and begin your business activities.

Note: Ensuring the correct cash amount is entered is crucial for accurate tracking and reporting throughout the day.

Verify equipment connections - coming soon!

  • Check Terminal and Printer Indicators:
Before starting transactions, pay attention to the indicators on the POS system that show whether your terminal and printer are properly connected.

  • Troubleshoot if Necessary:
If you notice any connection issues, press the “?” symbol on the POS app for more troubleshooting information.

Tip

It’s essential to resolve any connection issues before beginning transactions to avoid interruptions in service.
